Fired a midget, Starbucks Sued U.S. government

Austin - The U.S. government demanded Starbucks, said the coffee company fired "barista" or servant of coffee in El Paso, Texas because he was a midget.

When the employee asked for a stool or small ladder to do his job, Starbucks refused the request and fired him on the same day. The company claims that it could harm consumers and workers, according to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

The commission, which filed a lawsuit recently saying, Starbucks violated federal law by denying a reasonable accommodation to its employees.

"Starbucks has become a representation of modern American culture, to attract many customers are diverse," said commission lawyer in Dallas, Robert Canino, in a statement.

"We hope that when considering the appointment of someone with a physical deficiency, Starbucks may choose to increase his name with the image the equality of opportunity and access," he explained.

Starbucks spokeswoman Stacey Krum said, women who are employed on probation and after three days in charge of the shop decided that his work was too demanding physically.

"Using the bench in the work environment is not a reasonable accommodation in the store," said Krum.
