Murdoch's BSkyB Purchase Cancel

LONDON - News Corp. yesterday canceled a plan to eventually take over the television station BSkyB. The decision was taken following a barrage of pressure from the British parliament.

Lower House (House of Commons) on Wednesday afternoon is planned to hold a hearing to decide a vote of sales refusal BSkyB to media tycoon Rupert Murdoch. Parties urged parliament owner News Corp. is to give up its ambitions to occupy a fairly large television network in the UK. Although the motion has no legal force, but the move could put pressure on Murdoch.

BSkyB takeover of the cancellation decision was announced just two hours before the scheduled session of parliament. Murdoch was originally intended to have 62 percent of BSkyB shares through purchases will be made by News Corp. Enterprises Supervisory Authority concerned about Murdoch's British media monopolies will do with those purchases.

Prime Minister David Cameron welcomed the decision of News Corp.. Opposition Labor Party leader Ed Miliband said the cancellation of the takeover was a''victory for the people of this country who have been shocked by a phone tapping scandal.''

"No one should hold power without responsibility in this country,''he said.

Phone tapping scandal involving the News of the World appalling UK last week. Later, not only the News of the World that was allegedly involved wiretapping scandal, but also a number of other media including Murdoch's News International, Sunday Times, and The Sun.

Facilitating investigation

Earlier on the same day PM Cameron ensure it would ease the process of investigation in the case of wiretapping scandal involving the media company owned by Rupert Murdoch.

In front of the House of Commons, Mr Cameron said that he asked investigators to examine the politicians, media owners, editors and media to look for bright spots in the case. He also expressed his willingness to be examined as a witness if requested.

Cameron said they were determined guilty in a scandal involving Mingguang tabloid News of the World should not be allowed to run a media business in the UK. To members of parliament he added that the tabloid's parent company, News Corp., will also be urged to stop thinking to take over BSkyB. He urged Murdoch to focus on wiretapping case involving his media.

"What happened at the company's reprehensible, it should be addressed at every level and they have to stop thinking about the merger when they have to sort out the mess they created," says Cameron.

He said the investigation would begin''as soon as possible''and will include two things, namely related to violations and abuses of the press by the police as well as study the regulation of the press. British prime minister added that Lord Justice Leveson, assisted a member of an independent panel, will make a number of recommendations to better manage the press that''supports freedom, plurality and independence of the press from government but with professional standards and high ethical''.

FBI Check the Murdoch Company

WASHINGTON - Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) United States launched an investigation into Rupert Murdoch's company, News Corp., after a report that the firm's employees may have been trying to tap phone conversations and voice mails from survivors, families of victims killed and victims of the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001, said a federal law enforcement told CNN on Thursday (14/07/2011) local time.

"We knew the allegations were and are in depth," said the source, who asked not to be named because of the sensitivity of the investigation. "We're steeped anyone acting for or on behalf of News Corp., from top management down to the janitors," to gather information and determine whether there has been a violation of law. The source said, because the investigation has just begun, it is still too early to say when the first interviews will be conducted. To be sure, he said, such an inspection is a "high priority".

Peter T. King, Republican lawmakers from the New York area, earlier this week, has asked FBI Director Robert Mueller, to investigate the possibility of the journalists who worked for the Murdoch-owned media have been tapping phones of victims and relatives of victims of September 11 or often referred to 9 / 11.

Party News Corp. on Thursday said no comment on the investigation into the FBI or the possibility of a hearing with the U.S. Congress.

Concerns the practice of wiretapping by the Murdoch-owned media group in the U.S., as revealed by the media group that has been done in England, apparently can be traced from a report published in The Mirror, a British tabloid newspaper on Wednesday. The tabloid quotes "a source" that refers to a former police officer who now works as a private investigator. "Penyilidik was used by many journalists in America and he recently told me that he had been asked to eavesdrop on private phone data victim 9 / 11," the source said, as reported to the media.

The source told The Mirror that the request came from the News of the World, one of Murdoch's media at the center of the phone tapping scandal in Britain and has been closed last Sunday. "He said that the journalists were asking for access to records that showed calls to and from mobile phones belonging to the victims and their families," wrote the tabloid.

"Allegations of him is that they want information so they can tap into the relevant ballot box (for their news), as it proved they had done in England."

Private investigator said he ignores the job. He knows how insensitivity such research and how bad the impact of it. Investigators said the journalists seem to be very interested to get the phone records of the victims who came from England. "

The families of the victims of the terrorist attack was furious over the possibility of phone-tapping of journalists have been victims. "That's really unethical, unprofessional and basically criminal," said Jim Riches, a retired deputy chief of the New York Fire Department who lost a son in the attack, as quoted by CNN. Sally Regenhard, who also lost a son in the attack, calling it a "very terrible that the terms of privacy and personal security can be breached in such a horrible way."

Democratic Senator Frank Lautenberg, of New Jersey said the families of the victims the attacks of September 11 has "suffered enough" and demand answers.

The pressure to conduct a federal investigation of Murdoch's media empire grew when a key member of the House oversight committee called on Congress to explore allegations that one of Murdoch's companies are based in the U.S. may have violated the laws of anti-bribery and a number of other laws.

News of the World, a tabloid owned by Murdoch in the UK who have aged past 168 years and a circulation of 2.5 million copies, was closed last Sunday amid allegations that the journalists of illegally intercepting phone messages belong to murder victims, victims of terrorists, politicians and celebrities.

U.S. Concerned Malaysian Ways Overcome Protest

WASHINGTON - United States (U.S.), Wednesday (13/07/2011) local time, voicing concern about how the Government of Malaysia to handle protests backed opposition over the weekend. The U.S. also said it would oversee the development situation in the country.

Riot police have fired tear gas and water cannon to end the rally on Saturday demanding reform of electoral rules and arrested more than 1,600 people, a protester even killed. "We've got some concerns," said a spokesman for the U.S. State Department told reporters Mark Toner. "We're siding with the people's right to freely express their democratic aspirations and their views freely. I would emphasize that it should be a peaceful demonstration," said Toner. "We will continue to monitor the situation closely."

Malaysia has promised to investigate allegations of police brutality. Prime Minister Najib Razak was not only defending, but instead praising the police, saying that the police have worked with professionals and rallies it is a tactic to tarnish the image of the country.

Groups of international human rights has strongly condemned the police's crackdown and urged the U.S. and other countries, especially member countries of ASEAN, to press Malaysia to ensure to act responsibly.

Malaysia has sought to build closer ties with the United States in the administration of President Barack Obama's efforts to reach out to Southeast Asia. Malaysia and the United States has long been a major trading partners, but the political relationship is not smooth, especially for 22 years under the leadership of Mahathir Mohamad, a vocal critic of U.S. foreign policy.

The U.S. is also concerned about the treatment of opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, who has spent six years in prison and back on trial for charges of sodomy. Anwar said the allegations were politically motivated.

Bomb Blasts Rock Mumbai

Three bomb blasts hit Mumbai in the biggest attack on Indian’s financial capital since the November 2008 terrorist raid, killing at least 10 people.

The blasts occurred in the Dadar, Zaveri Bazar and Opera House neighborhoods, Home Minister P. Chidambaram said in a briefing in New Delhi today. The explosions injured more than 54 people, he said. The Mumbai police chief said 15 people had died.

Mumbai is home to Reliance Industries Ltd., which runs the world’s largest refinery complex, and Tata group, India’s biggest business group by value. The nation’s stocks and bond markets are also based in Mumbai. Today’s attack is the first in the city since Pakistani gunmen killed about 160 people in 2008.

A bomb exploded around 6:50 p.m., Jayesh Labdhi, a resident in the Opera House area, said. The blast damaged cars and motorcycles parked in the area.

The injured were taken to King Edward Memorial Hospital, Saifee Hospital and Hinduja Hospital. The Dadar bomb was placed in a grey colored Maruti Suzuki car, Times Now said, citing eyewitnesses.

‘‘We have made arrangements with extra beds, medicines and blood bottles,’’ said Ajay Jagdale, the doctor in charge at King George Hospital. At least 37 people were bought to the hospital with critical injuries, he said.

Mumbai and other major Indian cities, including New Delhi, the southern city of Hyderabad and Ahmedabad in western Gujarat state have been hit by a series of blasts over the last two decades.

Two bombs killed 52 people in the financial capital in 2003, an attack for which three people were eventually sentenced to death, including a married couple. That attack came 10 years after 1993 serial bombings that killed 257 people in the city.

While India has blamed militant groups in neighbor Pakistan or home grown Islamic outfits for most of the attacks, investigators this year charged Hindu activists for their involvement in the 2007 bombing of a Pakistan-bound train service that killed 68 people, an attack earlier blamed on Muslim extremists.

A raid on Mumbai by 10 Pakistan terrorists of the Lashkar- e-Taiba groups in 2008 collapsed five years of peace talks between the arch rivals. Ties that are only now beginning to recover.

In a shift in strategy for groups attacking India, the gunmen armed with automatic weapons and grenades targeted businessmen and tourists, a strike at the international links that helped India build the world’s second-fastest growing major economy after China.

This Lady Kept A Robber as A Sex Slave

A Russian man who tried to rob a hair salon ended up as the victim when the female shop owner overpowered him, tied him up naked and then used him as a sex slave for three days.

Viktor Jasinski, 32, admitted to police that he had gone to the salon in Meshchovsk, Russia, with the intention of robbing it. But the tables were turned dramatically when he found himself overcome by owner Olga Zajac, 28, who happened to be a black belt in karate.

She allegedly floored the would-be robber with a single kick. Then, in a scene reminiscent of Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction, police say Zajac dragged the semi-conscious Jasinski to a back room of the salon and tied him up with a hair dryer cable.

She allegedly stripped him naked and, for the next three days, used him as a sex slave to 'teach him a lesson' - force feeding him Viagra to keep the lesson going.

The would-be robber was eventually released, with Zajak saying he had learned his lesson.

Jasinski went straight to the police and told them of his back-room ordeal, saying that he had been held hostage, handcuffed naked to a radiator, and fed nothing but Viagra.

Both have now been arrested.

When police arrived to question Zahjac, she said: 'What a bastard. Yes, we had sex a couple of times. But I bought him new jeans, gave him food and even gave him 1,000 roubles when he left."
