China Against Obama-Dalai Lama meeting
China opposed the plan of meeting between the President of the United States, Barack Obama and spiritual leader of Tibet, the Dalai Lama. Bamboo Curtain country asked Obama to reconsider his intention.
Obama is scheduled to meet the Dalai Lama at the White House, Saturday, July 16, 2011. In a statement, the White House has stressed that the meeting in order to show support for Obama on the dialogue between the Dalai Lama and China.
However, whatever the reason, the Chinese side remains opposed. "Tibet issue concerns China's sovereignty and territorial integrity," said Foreign Affairs spokesman Kemeterian China, Hong Leu in a statement, as published on CNN, Saturday, July 16, 2011. "We oppose the meeting between leaders of foreign countries with the Dalai Lama in any format."
China asked Obama to cancel his decision to meet with spiritual leaders who now live in the evacuation. "Stop interfering in China's internal affairs and undermine China-US relations."
Current Dalai Lama is also known as Tenzin Gyatso. He was born in 1935 in Qinghai, China. Terminology 'Dalai Lama' is a title given to leaders in Tibetan Buddhism. The title given to those who have a line of spiritual masters reincarnation. The current Dalai Lama is the reincarnation of the 14th.
Currently, the Dalai Lama was in Washington in order to visit 11 days in the United States. He is scheduled to lead a mass ritual Buddhists and met with several lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
