Redbull: Pole Position Not Guarantee To Achieve Victory!

Starting the race from pole position is usually pave the way to victory. Not only that, the pole positions is also a major capital of the drivers to start racing

But Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner believes that the pole is no guarantee of winning.

Evidence, Mark Webber is already showing the position start at the back does not necessarily make the race so bad.

This season is of significance in the qualifying session may no longer be as important as ever. This is caused by a combination of new tires and also the assistance to do the overtaking. More than the qualification, in the pit strategy may be more important.

Look Webber rate in China last GP, for example. At that time the Red Bull racing driver from position 18 to finish in third position. He was helped by a new set of soft tires that are available because he did not take part in the last two qualifying sessions.

What is shown by Webber is apparently quite an impact on 'Red Bull', who now began to rethink the strategy team for the next series.

"Webber makes you question the value of a qualification," said Red Bull team principal Christian Horner reported on ESPN F1.

"Now the cars can overtake and with big differences between the old tires and new tires, we should re-examine every track to see whether or not important at the forefront," he added

"Our strategy experts will look back on how we should plan our race weekend," he continued.

Each racer has three sets of soft tires and three sets of tires for qualifying and race hard. In most races last season, leading the drivers use all three sets of soft tires in qualifying, then take the final set into the race for change of tires.

However, with Pirelli tires wear out more quickly this year, Horner came to believe that the drivers could be better also keep soft tires for the race, despite the negative impact to the starting point.

"Based on the characteristics of the track and the tires on every weekend, you might want to change the situation so that you get a new tire more quickly on the important parts in the race, probably with an impact on qualification."

"You have to do a lot of overtaking to be able to carry it out, but Mark showed it can be done. You could say he needed two more laps to win. With less than two laps longer, we could have won by Sebastian (Vettel) with the conventional strategy based on the a good grid position, "said Horner.

In the series, Lewis Hamilton of McLaren appears to be the fastest racer. Vettel finished in second position with a difference of five seconds, two seconds ahead of Webber, who was ranked third.
